I agree, Willyloman.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, MeneMene. Our computer got an infection and I couldn't sign-in here until today.
Anyway, yeah, they had to stay on the move; they would have been vulnerable to the cannibals and slavers scouring the countryside who might have caught scent of them or happened upon them, just as they happened upon the place. But I did wish they could have stayed there longer.
I felt such a sense of joy and relief for those two, poor souls when they found a "good place." Imagine the sheer joy in discovering canned food and dry, warmth after all that drudgery and trudging through ice, snow, feeling certain that death by starvation was imminent.

Of all the billions of planets - why did the demons get sent to Earth?
by truthseeker insome say it is fitting that the demons were hurled down to earth because the original serpent began his rebellion against god in the garden of eden.
yet, what happened is tantamount to unlocking every prison on earth and letting murderers, rapists and evildoers go free to terrorize humanity.
the angels were aware of the effects of the expulsion of the demons and their leader - "be glad you heavens and you who reside in them.

Do you get joy out of doing your own yard work?
by restrangled inthe heat index here in orlando is currently 105 degrees, but being the bull dog type i am, insist on mowing in this heat.
it will take me another 2 days to trim out, and get any stray stuff done like brown palm fronds etc.
this is my 3rd break on the first day, my face is bright red and am sweating like someone in a gym.. i find great joy in a beautiful lawn, nicely trimmed out, beautiful trees and flowers etc.. on the other hand i am mowing in my light short cotton nightgown which looks like a pretty t-shirt but is lighter weight with a pair of jeans.....my husband is cracking up!

I take great pleasure in maintaining the wildlife preserve look. It really annoys the snooty neighbors, which is also a great pleasure.

For me the situation is no more about oil than Zimbabwe is. It's about crackdown on liberty in a former democracy -Stephanus
Like in the United States? So, what is the crackdown here about?

. . . Maria Conchita Alonzo . . . says they see what Chavez wants them to see in that country, not reality.
And that never happens in this country? Like, when people choose only to listen to whatever polarized side of the political debates suit their personal tastes, politics, and pocketbooks?

there were three people sitting in the shade in front of the grocery store.

I just can't believe how she thinks everythign is completely okay. I just want my family back before they joined the religion!!!!
I just hope you don't lose as much time waiting for their awakening as I did. Try to find a surrogate family and friends, if you have not already. Do you have a group or church or book clubs or anything like that? It's hard to reach out when you're used to viewing "the world" as something outside of yourself, but I hope you can find your way out there. It's really worth it.
We get to ride on the "super cool" bus with everyone there and back... can you tell I'm excited?
Why not get involved in any number of political activities at your local college? Thenyou could really ride on some 'super cool' buses, and just diss the JW convention stuff. You could just say,"I'm busy with my extracurricular activities that weekend ..." and not even feel guilty about it if you find a cause that you're really passionate about.
I am reminded of a really cool bus trip I took to Washington, D.C. as a sophomore in college. We had coolers and pot and marched on the mall, for women's rights. I never saw so many people in one place in my entire life. Now that was cool.

I bought two copies last night - one for myself and one as a birthday gift. Whoa! What a birthday gift!
I just finished (almost) half of it last night, and I'm thinking, what was I thinking . . . some birthday gift!
just that I read some of his work years ago and thought he was a very good writer . . . well, it's an excellent read - but maybe not the best of birthday gifts, LOL.
It is written in a style that reminds me of reading Cold Mountain. After I read that, I cried, thinking, shit, boo hoo! I just read over 400 pages of a trudge through hell, and the trudger didn't even get what he was after . . . bwaahaa . . . but, anyway, I couldn't stop reading it until I crashed at 3 a.m.
Anyone else reading it, or read it? No spoilers, please . . . just wondering what you thought . . . I really like it, despite its incredible darkness. It really makes you think about what it is that holds civilization together, and just what it is that makes people human and inhumane.

Terribly sorry to hear you're going through this. Is it possible to get a mentor for the teen?
One piece of very good research news I heard recently regarding teens and gangs: many, many teens do outgrow it. Very heartening to hear that.
